About

Founded in 2020, the Gogugu washing station is located in the Guji Zone of Haro Wolabu woreda, a region recognized as one of Ethiopia's highest-elevation coffee-growing areas, surpassing 2000 meters above sea level. Cherries are delivered from 510 surrounding farms with plots ranging from 0.5 to 2 hectares, showcasing approximately 1800 to 2400 coffee trees per hectare. These farms benefit from the fertile red soil, abundant sunlight, and refreshing cold winds—an ideal environment for exceptional coffee. The coffee undergoes a 60 to 72-hour wet fermentation process before being dried for 10 days. Grown at around 2000 meters above sea level, this is considered one of Ethiopia's highest-elevation growing areas. The youth of these farms adds to their uniqueness, with most coffee plants only five to ten years old, earning them the title of the 'youngest coffee trees from Ethiopia.' The producers are smallholder farmers supplying the Gogugu Washing Station.
